The singer Dionne Warwick concludes her European tour in Warsaw and Assisi this weekend. She has just finished 12 sell-out concerts in the UK where audiences cheered the gutsy rendering of her hits. She recounted her life through her songs, beginning as a gospel singer, through all the hits from Burt Bacharach to how Cilla Black hijacked her hit Anyone Who Had a Heart by covering it. The only strangely coy moment in her life story came when she swerved around mentioning her age. She needn’t have worried, as most of the fans were older than her. Dionne Warwick is 68 today. RGT
